Amanda’s work explores her desire to better understand her surroundings in both the physical and the metaphysical sense. She uses the creative process as a method to help analyse, deconstruct and recreate the intangible into the rational and visual. Taking on a holistic viewpoint and extrapolating into the microscopic, her work uses linear decoration and pattern illustrating the bifocal nature of her way of thinking. With a background in biochemistry and biological science much of her ideas revolve around the interconnecting mechanisms of nature, eco systems and our co-existence as a species. Her practice also explores ideas around colour physics.
She is currently developing ideas around chance and order, balance and imbalance and the self- conscious, with influences from British Constructivism and artists such as Victor Pasmore and Kenneth Martin.
